Did you know..?
Unlike other aerosol disinfectants, TECcare® CONTROL disinfecting mist does not contain in-can rust inhibitors which reduce efficacy.
Other products require cleaning before treatment, whereas TECcare® ULTRA has passed testing in very dirty conditions.
Other so-called ‘sporicidal’ products use relatively easy to pass dilution tests, whereas TECcare® ULTRA kills spores on dry surfaces.
Viruses are not living, so any products that claim to KILL viruses are INCORRECT! TECcare® products DESTROY Viruses by disrupting their DNA or RNA.
Some Bacteria form a slimy “bio film” that the strongest bleach cannot remove. TECcare® CONTROL not only removes bio-film but inhibits its formation.
TECcare® kills:

Clostridium difficile (C.diff)

Description:
Gram-positive (take up a marker dye) spore-forming anaerobic (live without oxygen) bacteria shaped like rods (bacilli)

Symptoms:
Serious infections of the colon, this particularly affects people undergoing certain antibiotic treatments where the normal gut flora are depleted allowing for the rapid spread of the more resistant C. diff. bacterium which release harmful toxins that can be lethal

Transmission:
Faecal contamination of hands & surfaces, C. diff spores (dormant state) can survive in the environment for prolonged periods (months) awaiting the opportunity to recolonize a vulnerable digestive system.

Recommended Products:

TECcare Ultra - Total eradication of spores
TECcare Control - Prevention and control

Norovirus

Description:
Non-enveloped (without a protein shell, sometimes described as “non-capsid” viruses) in the Caliciviridae family of viruses

Symptoms:
Is the most common cause of viral gastroenteritis in humans with symptoms present within 24-48 hours of exposure. Symptoms include nausea, projectile vomiting, watery diarrhoea, abdominal pain. Symptoms usually subside within 2-5 days. Norovirus fatalities are not uncommon especially in elderly, juvenile and immune supressed individuals. Viruses can not be killed as they are not classified as living organisms.

Transmission
Highly contagious is rapidly spreading through the consumption of food / water contaminated with faecal matter, person-to-person contact, touching contaminated surfaces and aerosol virus released whilst projectile vomiting.

Recommended Products:

TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention
TECcare Ultra - Total eradication

Pseudomonas

Description:
Gram-negative (resist taking up a marker dye), rod-shaped (bacilli), aerobic bacteria that are widely found all around us, particularly in the presence of water.

Symptoms:
Pneumonia (inflammation of the lung), Urinary tract infections (UTI) and Skin/soft tissue infections. . Pseudomonas aeruginosa has also been identified as the cause of gastrointestinal outbreaks affecting neonates (very young children) tragically lead to a number of fatalities.

Transmission:
Person-to-person contact, touching contaminated surfaces

Recommended Products:

TECcare Protect - Hand sanitising

VRE

Description:
Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus bacteria (see below) that have developed resistant to Vancomycin one of the most powerful antibiotics currently available

Symptoms:
Vary dependant on the location of the infection but can include urinary tract, blood stream and wound infections

Transmission:
Person-to-person contact, touching contaminated surfaces

Recommended Products:

TECcare Protect - Hand sanitising
TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention (hard and soft surfaces)

MRSA

Description:
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus is a bacteria that has developed resistance Methicillin (plus other beta-lactam antibiotics i.e. penicillin etc.) antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections, including Staphylococcus aureus (a bacteria commonly found on the skin and in wounds). Thought originally thought to be confined to hospitals MRSA has now spread in to the wider community, where even more virulent strains are emerging.

Symptoms:
Skin infection that first develops as a painful bump or a mark in the skin that looks like an insect bite, high temperature and a general feeling of being unwell

Transmission:
Person-to-person contact, touching contaminated surfaces

Recommended Products:

TECcare Protect - Hand sanitising
TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention (hard and soft surfaces)
TECcare Ultra - Total eradication

ColdVirus

Description:
A viral infection (rhinovirus is the most common cause) of the upper respiratory system, affecting the nose and throat.

Symptoms:
Coughing, sneezing, sore throat, runny nose, and fever. The symptoms usually recede in 7 to 10 days. There is currently no cure but the transmission of the disease can be contained if vigorous standards of hand and environmental cleaning/disinfection are implemented along with the use of disposable tissues to capture fluids expelled when coughing and sneezing. Viruses cannot be killed as they are not classified as living organisms.

Transmission:
Aerosol viruses spread through sneezing/coughing, person-to-person contact, touching contaminated surfaces

Recommended Products:

TECcare Protect - Hand sanitising
TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention (hard and soft surfaces)
TECcare Ultra - Total eradication

Swine flu / Influenza (flu virus)

Description:
Highly infectious disease which is often confused with other infections like the common cold, however influenza symptoms are more severe and can have life threatening consequences, particularly in children, the elderly and immune-compromised individuals. Globally Influenza accounts for approximately 500,000 death per year which can rise to millions during pandemics (a global outbreak of a new strain such as swine flu).

Symptoms:
Similar to a heavy cold (chills, fever, sore throat, coughing) but will also include muscle pains, severe headache, weakness/fatigue, general discomfort, nausea and vomiting

Transmission:
Influenza viruses are spread by person to person contact, touching infected surfaces, inhaling infected fluid droplets expelled during coughing and sneezing. Viruses can be deactivated (not killed) and restricted from spreading by using an efficient disinfectant / cleaner with prolonged protective properties and a robust hygiene system.

Recommended Products:

TECcare Protect - Hand sanitising
TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention (hard and soft surfaces)
TECcare Ultra - Total eradication

E-coli (Escherichia coli)

Description:
A Gram-negative bacteria found in the digestive system of animal and humans. There many subgroups of E. coli, and most of which are harmless. However certain strains (i.e. E. coli O157) can cause serious illnesses

Symptoms
Bloody diarrhoea (hemorrhagic) and bladder /urinary tract infections are common. May lead to severe anaemia & kidney failure, can be fatal particularly in more vulnerable patients

Transmission:
Spread through the consumption of food / water contaminated with infected faecal matter.

Recommended Products:

TECcare Protect - Hand sanitising
TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention (hard and soft surfaces)
TECcare Ultra - Total eradication

Listeria

Description:
Gram-positive bacteria that infects the digestive

Symptoms
Non invasive symptoms are fever, muscle pain, chills, vomiting and diarrhoea. Invasive symptoms (enters the blood stream) severe headache, stiff neck, changes in mood (confusion), seizures, co-ordination problems, uncontrollable tremors – can lead to potentially fatal meningitis

Transmission:
Widely found in water and soil and infected animals. Spread mainly by the consumption of contaminated food, water and other fluids, such as unpasteurized milk

Recommended Products:

TECcare Protect - Hand sanitising
TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention (hard and soft surfaces)
TECcare Ultra - Total eradication

Salmonella

Description:
Gram-negative bacteria closely related to E. coli, found in the digestive system of animals, reptiles, birds and humans.

Symptoms:
Similar to Typhoid fever (fever, diarrhoea, vomiting etc.). Dehydration posses a potentially lethal threat, even to healthy individuals. Vulnerable groups such as the elderly and young children are prone to suffer more serious symptoms.

Transmission:
Consumption of contaminated food, water and fluids Can survive for weeks outside a living body are not destroyed by freezing, ultraviolet radiation or heat and are resistant to many common disinfectants, making them hard to eradicate once they are present in an environment.

Recommended Products:

TECcare Protect - Hand sanitising
TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention (hard and soft surfaces)
TECcare Ultra - Total eradication

Legionella

Description:
is a Gram-negative bacterium that can be found in many different environments but most notably in water systems such as water-cooled air conditioning systems, areas identified as the source of major outbreaks of Legionnaires' disease.

Symptoms:
Fever, chills, and dry cough similar to flu. The Advanced stages of the disease include gastrointestinal, diarrhoea, nausea and pneumonia symptoms. Dependant on the health of the patient a full recovery can be usually be expected within 7-14 days, however mortality rates have been known to be as high as 25% in severe outbreaks.

Transmission:
Inhalation of contaminated water aerosol or from soil

Recommended Products:

TECcare Control - Disinfection and prevention (hard and soft surfaces)
TECcare Ultra - Total eradication

Campylobacter

Description:
Gram-negative bacterium recognized as one of the major causes of bacterial food poisoning in developed countries.

Symptoms:
Bloody diarrhoea or dysentery, but also including severe stomach cramp, fever and general pain. In most cases symptoms subside within 5 – 10 days, however the disease is highly contagious so rigorous hand and personal hygiene must be implemented to prevent its spread.

Weil's disease is caused by the bacteria Leptospira. The disease can lie dormant 4 – 14 day after the initial infection s

Symptoms:
Include fever, severe headache, chills, muscle aches, and vomiting, and may develop into jaundice, red eyes, severe abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and skin rash. Initial symptoms maybe mistook pneumonia. Acute symptoms can include inflammation of the brain lining (meningitis), extreme fatigue, hearing loss, respiratory distress, renal failure and liver failure potentially leading to long term morbidity and/or death.

Transmission:
Through contact with water contaminated with infected urine. Rodents and other mammals are recognized as primary hosts.
